Send a message via ICQ to CrazyMike
Do you ever power down your computer without going to start->shutdown? It sounds like something in you windows is corrupt, if you have any recovery cd's around I recomend doing a non destructive recovery.

Hi batiso,

1) See if you can boot to Safe Mode.
2) If yes, does the problem disappear in Safe Mode?
3) If the problem disappears, use the System Restore feature and try a restore point from before the restarts started (if possible). [if it's not possible, you can try an over-the-top reinstall (which is non-destructive, as is System Restore for the most part, like CrazyMike has recommended)] You can find over-the-top (both methods are listed, system file refresh or full option by option setup) http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=70846
4) If the problem still occurs, even in Safe Mode, and even after a Restore, right-click on My Computer, go to Properties, and look for an item in System Properties something like "restart on error'. This will let you view the error that is causing the crash, rather than blindly restarting without seeing the error message. Post the error message here if you'd like more troubleshooting.

If you suspect hardware:
1) run with the case open just to rule out overheating.
2) download hard disk diagnostics and test the drive
3) try a different power supply
4) I doubt it's memory, but you could always test that too.

If there's data on that system partition that needs saving, reformatting will be your last choice, since it will destroy all of it. In that case, you have to hope the customer has a good set of backups.

Best of luck
. . . Gary
