Win 2k boot error/stop

Hi all, I'm not 'up' on Win2k and could use some help. First off, I got this machine from a 'second-hand computer shop', and did not recieve the Win2k CD/s. (Otherwise I'd just reinstall and be done with it as there is nothing on here that I require)

The machine was boot ing and running fine, until I tried to add some php, mysql, and other stuff to creat a database on this machine (workorders) Nothing is going to be used via internet or on any network. Anyway, I copied the files required to CD, then transfered them to the 2k machine. When I ran the setup files, they errored out. Thinking I had a burn error, I made 2 other disks, all did the same thing. So, I started looking at the hard drive on the 2k machine. I ran scandisk (no problems found) and then defraged (drive was badly fragmented). After defrag, I rebooted. That's when I hit this error:

Stop: c000026c (unable to load device driver)
\system root\system32\drivers\portcls.sys device driver could not be loaded.
Error status was 0xc0000221

Now, I have searched M$.com, but not really found anything useful (other than to re-install, but I still don't have Win 2k CD)

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

You might want to try booting to safe mode and uninstalling your sound card. See if that enables you to boot then try re-installing it.
