Win 2k boot error/stop
Hi all, I'm not 'up' on Win2k and could use some help. First off, I got this machine from a 'second-hand computer shop', and did not recieve the Win2k CD/s. (Otherwise I'd just reinstall and be done with it as there is nothing on here that I require)
The machine was boot ing and running fine, until I tried to add some php, mysql, and other stuff to creat a database on this machine (workorders) Nothing is going to be used via internet or on any network. Anyway, I copied the files required to CD, then transfered them to the 2k machine. When I ran the setup files, they errored out. Thinking I had a burn error, I made 2 other disks, all did the same thing. So, I started looking at the hard drive on the 2k machine. I ran scandisk (no problems found) and then defraged (drive was badly fragmented). After defrag, I rebooted. That's when I hit this error: Stop: c000026c (unable to load device driver) \system root\system32\drivers\portcls.sys device driver could not be loaded. Error status was 0xc0000221 Now, I have searched M$.com, but not really found anything useful (other than to re-install, but I still don't have Win 2k CD) Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance. |

You might want to try booting to safe mode and uninstalling your sound card. See if that enables you to boot then try re-installing it.
