XP Pro with SP1a $137 w/free shipping. Must be purchased with hardware. I believe there are a variety of cheap items that qualify for the hardware.

Yes, it has everything. It is cheap because it is OEM. Actually, I wouldn't consider it to be cheap; I would consider paying $300 for the full version of XP Pro to be insanely expensive, since you are basically paying more than twice as much for the nice box and support.

the only catch is you need to purchase hardware with it.

the OEM version comes very plain.. usually justa cd and a key.. and maybe some minor instructions.
It is intended for people who are building a system from the ground up, hence the need to buy hardware with it.
It is the full version as if you went to best buy, but it doesn't come with any long lasting support from M$.

I wasn't sure what the 'buy software' catch was so I bought my copy from walmart for $200.

You could do a froogle search and find cheaper prices from places that might be a bit sketchy.

The "buy hardware" catch is usually fulfilled with something as simple as a power splitter. Newegg conveniently lists hardware that fulfills the requirement, and usually lets you choose something for free.

Edit: for example, you can buy it with this audio cable for $5, and then you get a $5 discount, making it free.
