Hi CrazyMike !
It was ok when I ran a virus software. Anyway,I unchecked the box so that it doesn't start when I boot up. Under the 'Location' part of the start up list said: HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current hummm, wonder what HKCU is ? |

HKCU = HKey Current User. The path you listed is part of the regestry that deals with system processes. Printer, Network, Task manager,Windows login. If your anti virus didnt find anything I would leave it alone.

A BIG SCARE ! ! !--------
Hi old dog ! Thanks for your reply. WOW !-----I got a big scare. Here's my story : After posting my post here and then surfing on the computer , I shut down the computer (this computer is at my house in a room office). The time was about 6:30 PM. After that I ate and watched TV to about 1:00 AM tonight. At that time (1:00 PM), I came into the office room and got on the computer. I do this every night and have my headphones listening to the Art bell talk show (the show is now called'Coast To Coast AM' hosted by George Norry during the week nights, they talk about flying saucers, gosts, the whole paranormal]). Anyway , back to my problem. So , I sit down at the computer and start to boot up. Was I Shocked !, Hit In the Face !. Floored !------ I got 'The Blue Screen' !--- I said "crap , I'm in trouble ! ". On the blue screen it had white text saying that it was a serious error, something about the windows log in. " Man , what do i do !". I just sit there and stared at the screen as in a trance." Should I call Microsoft ?". " I'm screwed ." So I try to turn of the computer with my keyboard. It was set up by me to use keys to shut down the computer and it works fine , normally. The computer would not shutdown !. The only way was a hard shutdown. Just hit the power on/off switch and hold.--I waited for a few minutes and I hit the switch to turn on my computer. My knees were shaking as I hit the button. What will happen i said to myself. Well , as I watched the screen, there was my "HP--Invent screen" showing up. That is the first thing that comes on since I have a HP computer.---BOY !--was I so happy to see it !, some way it saved me or whatever the computer did. I wasn't out of the woods yet. The next screen to come up should be black with white text showing me which drive I wanted click on to. As I watched the HP-Invent screen go off , IT DID ! , the black screen with that white text showing which OS I wanted to boot to. Man !, I then knew I was home free and that everything was back to normal !. ------- now , the first thing I did was to go to Start>Run>MISCONFIG>START UP TAB. I immediately went and checked those two programs that I un-checked, for them to start up again as I boot up the computer. It was those two programs in my post above that I talk about, the squares shown in the place that lists the name of your programs that start when you boot up. When I got off the computer(6:30PM) after making my post , I decided to UN-check those two boxes as not to have them in my start up. -A big mistake-. Anyway, as I looked over the list to find those two boxes I was Astonished ! . Those two boxes were already checked ! !. I didn't do it !, it did it by itself !. I guess when I booted up after the blue screen showed , somehow windows did it on it's own. It corrected itself by re-checking those two boxes. After getting on the net, I immediately went to this post. Low and behold was old dog with a reply to me. He had hit it right by knowing what all that meant in those square programs listed. As I read old dog's reply , he showed 'windows logon' in his reply as of what it could be. Low and behold it was in my case , a 'windows log on ' problem that was shown in that blue screen.-----O--Well- all is good now, and I will never UN-check those two programs again . Why they are there in the first place, I don't know. It wasn't always like that. I don't know when the programs started to show up in my boot ups.----Well guys , I can sleep all right tonight. It could have played out as a disaster tonight. I could have maybe spent ALL day Saturday trying to fix my computer.-----Alls well that ends well-------------------------Don |

In the futue if you have a problem booting up after making changes, Tap the F8 key while the machine is booting. You should see a screen come up that gives you startup options. Choose the one
Restore to previously known good configeration. Windows probaly did a restore on its own. Marty |
