Win ME compressed folders eh?
I was right clicking the other day and I found the option to create a 'compressed' folder!
What's that when it's at home? Much use? Any use? Is it the obvious thing to do with compressed files? So is it a compression facility like Winzip? Thanks for the help. |

Here's a brief, one-page overview of compressed folders in WinME
http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winme You have the option to both encrypt and compress, which some folks like for extra security with some sensitive files. I don't used compressed folders, since all hard drives seem more than gigantic enough for my needs these days - but I imagine they might come in handy if you had to store a hefty number of large image files locally. There is a slight performance hit doing the compression/decompression work, but on more recent machines it might not be all that noticeable. . . . Gary [p.s. ...forgot to answer your last question: yes, it is like WinZip, and is in fact compatible with it] Last edited by GaryRouth; 02-05-2004 at 02:34 PM. |
