Installing adpater drivers

Hi

I have just reinstalled Win98 on a client's pc. I have now found that the network adapter is built-in to the mobo (I had been used to them being a separate item).

Trouble is that now I can't install the card or it's drivers. I have the floppy with the drivers (I suppose), and also a Win98 SE disk.

The adapter is a D-Link DFE530 TX Revision A.

All I get is errors messages when the system tries to find the whatever files on the CDrom (no problem seeing the FDD).

Any ideas about this? My usual answer was to take the card out and let the system detect the card when I put it back in. Now I can't do that and am stuck.

Should I perhaps identify the mobo and then search the net for info on loading the drivers?

Many thanks,

Teem.

Driver

Hi Yellohut

I tried the driver from the source you quote with no result.
The PC was custom built - not by me, and so is a collection of bits.

Can't be more specific than that, I'm afraid.

Hi all

teemro - if the error message you are getting is "Cannot find DLKRTS.SYS", take a look at this link (from the dlink site that yellowhut provided for the drivers - that 530tx is a common chip/card --works very nicely once it's installed) http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.as...0/%20DFE-538TX

See if that helps.
. . . Gary

[for any other error messages, try removing the device in Safe Mode, let Windows re-detect it on reboot, and point to that folder from the link above while re-installing the drivers]

Solutiom

Thanks garyrouth et al

I eventually gave up and installed a slot-in network card and used that. Windows picked it up straight away.

However, it's useful to note the info in the link you provided - many thanks.
