Kernel 32 issue!!!

I am stuck! Everytime I try to get on the internet, by way of cable broadband, I get this message that says that Internet Explorer has a problem. After I click off of the message a problem message appears and tells me that IExplorer had an illegal page something or other in Kernel 32. It's really getting under my skin. Can someone tell me what kernel32 even is? or what it does? And why it's so important? I would really appreciate it. If I new what it does and what it is, i could take, at least, some little steps to fixing it or understand more of what's going on. Much thanx!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick Fix Answer: Download and run AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.de) -- also do a full system antivirus scan.

Why: some adware/spyware can cause this error. If you are only getting the invalid page faults with IE, it's unlikely to be a hardware problem (such as a faulty memory module). For more info on this area of Kernel32/Invalid Page Fault errors, see http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/troub-340.shtml

Quick Fix #2: delete your password file & let Windows rebuild it. In this case, the cause is a damaged password file (another member had this just this week) http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;187965

Here's a cut & paste from the link below to give you an overal picture:
"What is Kernel32.dll? -->
Kernel32.dll is the 32-bit dynamic link library of the operating system kernel. Kernel32.dll handles memory management, input/output operations, and interrupts. When Windows boots up, Kernel32.dll is loaded into a protected memory space.

What are the "Invalid Page Fault" Errors? -->
An IPF can occur when an unexpected event has occurred in Windows, for example a program improperly attempted to use random access memory (RAM) or the virtual memory area is corrupted by a program, or a program is attempting to access data that is being modified by another program that is running. More information in: Q286180: Invalid Page Fault Errors Occur in Windows

What to do if you have Kernel32.dll IPF ("Invalid Page Fault") error? -->
This error occurs when an application tries to access kernel32.dll's protected memory space. It may be one particular program or application, or multiple files and applications.

Also, this error may be caused by faulty hardware (bad memory modules, device drivers, etc.) "

The webpage this comes from is full of info and links for Kernel32/Invalid Page Fault errors (also has an annoying amount of pop-up ads) http://www.all-windows.com/kernel32.html

Another possible issue can be caused by a certain version of McAffee antivirus acting up: http://support.microsoft.com/default...NoWebContent=1

Another issue involves download managers: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=253364

Hopefully, one of the two quick fixes will work & you won't have to deal with the troubleshooting that can go on and on with this sort of thing
