PCPitstop tells me my CPU is running at 100% and to get rid of what ever is running in the background. Tese are the programs they tell me are not necessary.
Description F:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\SPEEDD~1\nopdb.exe Norton SpeedDisk F:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe MSN Messenger F:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin\jusched.exe F:\Program Files\MYIE2\MyIE.exe F:\WINDOWS\System32\TCAUDIAG.exe F:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\hpztsb05.exe F:\WINDOWS\System32\winprotect.exe (F:\ is the XP partition) F:\WINDOWS\System32\TCAUDIAG.exe It's a 3Com TCAUM90X Network Connectivity test: for an onbaord LAN (Asus a7n8x deluxe ver 2.0) Does it matter if I disable it? F:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\hpztsb05.exe This is a file from the HP printer I have. I had no problem installing the drivers in the W2K partition so I have to think this particular printer is not compatible with WinXP. F:\WINDOWS\System32\winprotect.exe Looks to be something I downloaded when I used PC-Penicillian the other night. My problem is i can't un-install it. I keep getting a message saying the other program is using winprotect. From what I can tell winprotect is running itself? Any ideas? |

Just uncheck them in "msconfig" and restart. Your computer will thank you. No harm in disabling those files.

If your cpu is running at 100%, you might want to check for spyware/adware with Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-aware. Both are free downloads, just search google for them. Also, do a virus scan with an updated anti-virus just to be safe.
Also, if you stop the above programs from starting up using msconfig and find something not running right you can go back into msconfig and recheck them or the one you need, so there is no harm.
