Replaced my daughters mother board and cpu recently to an ASRock K7S8XE mother board and an AMD 2400 Duron 1.6 ghz, (had a tech do it). He didn't have my copy of the XP home install cd, but told me the steps to boot from the cd.
Now everything is fine with the install untill the install is complete. When the computer goes to restart it just goes to a black screen. nothing after that. Now I can restart the computer in safe mode but as we all know that's not an acceptable solution. Any help Thanks |

OK, solved my own problem, but I will post what I did here just in case others have the same problem.
I had a network card and a modem installed in the mobo when I tried to install XP home. After taking a shot in the dark I removed both of them and windows started up fine. So swamie says bare mobo for install and all should be fine. |
