XP doesn't remember speaker setup preferences
XP doesn't seem to be "remembering" my speaker setup prefs.
I.E. - I have it set for "quadraphonic" (4 spk) & sometime later it will switch itself back to "desktop stereo speakers". I'm running a Soundblaster Live 5.1 card w/ 4.1 speakers. The speakers themselves DO work. I can hear all of them on startup & the diagnostic prog says everything's kosher as well. And I've persued the usual suspects (reinstalling/updating drivers, etc.). XP isn't "forgetting" any of my other prefs.... Any ideas? |

ive come across the same situation, but only when I start gta3. my guess (yes, i have no solution....yet), is that the game speaker settings override the XP speaker settings. But one would say "Why not just set the game speakers to what you want?", but it doesnt work. Does it switch back while in windows, or when running a game?

Yeah... I should have mentioned that. I think that running a game kicks it to "desktop" mode. I have no clue as to why. Seems that it would at least revert when you're done. Seems a bit ridiculous.
