I have a copy of Home xp on my computer.
I have now made a computer, with a new hard drive installed When I installed Home xp on my upgraded computer, I got the message that my copy of xp had already been activated. This is right I loaded it on my first computer. My problem is:is there a way I can get my xp onto my newer computer, as I intend to sell the older machine. Thanks for any help. webbie

I believe you have to wipe it from your old computer and then call microsoft to tell them that you took it off the old computer and want to activate it on the new computer.

As per Microsoft's EULA (End User's Licence Agreement) one licence per computer. If you intend to sell your old computer with Windows XP installed on it, you must include the Windows XP CD that goes along with it. If you want to keep it for your own use, you must wipe it from your old computer before selling it.
Also if need be, you may have to contact Microsoft to straighten everything out, and explain to them that you'd like your licence activated/transfered to your new machine. |
