I’m having problems getting my PC (XP Pro) working properly again, it seems that I cannot open anything related to Windows Explorer (Control panel, My Pc, ect.) and the CPU usage immediately jumps to 100% . The problem seemed to occur when I installed a Outlook back up program, I’ve already ran A/V, Spybot and HJT. Here is the log:

I would really appreciate and advice that you could give me. |

Check in MSCONFIG
look at everything, not just startup, check services, system.ini, win.ini. Check them all for anything odd, look in your installed programs, uninstall anything you don't use, or don't recognize. Don't forget the actaul startup folder, I've had stuff hide itself in there too, the one on the ALL PROGRAMS menu. You could also, instead of restoring to an earlier date, try reinstalling XP over itself, or using repair on the XP disk. |
