Appreciate some assistance.
Have a friend's PC running W2000PRO. He has another hard drive on which W98SE is installed, and would like to add this hard drive to the PC and dual boot. The W2000PRO hard drive is is NTFS; the W98SE hard drive is FAT32. Do not wish to overwrite the C:\BOOT.INI file on the W98SE hard drive. How does one go about setting up this dual boot situation? Can this be done without third party Boot Management software? Is there a good website that provides some guidance? Thanks in advance for the help. |

Hello FZWG,
Usually when you want to dual boot, you install the old OS first and then install the new OS. In your case, you would install Win98se first and then Winxp. Since you are doing it the other way around, I suggest you read this thread. http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=24831 You dont have to do this if you use a third party boot manager, this only applies to if you want to use XP boot manager. |

Thanks for the reply.
The PC has 2000PRO vs. XP. Both OSs are already installed, but on different hard drives. Since the two OSs are already installed, do not want to do something that will damage either. Just trying to figure outhow to create a dual boot, and if it is possible to boot from one HDD or from the other without messing up boot info, etc. |
