Windows 98 Default Image Viewer?
I just installed Mozilla Firefox on my system, and a bug in it has made it the application that opens all of my image file types.
What is Windows 98 default image viewer? |

That version is so new, I hadn't even heard of it being released yet. Took a look at it, over at http://mozilla.org/products/firefox/ . . . very nice. If it has only changed what opens the files while you have FireFox running, you can change that back to the defaults in the Options menus: you'd look in on the "File Types" paragraph at
http://texturizer.net/firefox/options.html If it's the overall file association that you want to change back, you can often do that simply by opening that program, going to it's option menus, and finding an item like "make this app the default for the following file types...." You see such menus in QuickTime, Adobe PhotoShop, etc. Usually whatever photo editor you have installed will grab their proprietary extensions, plus ask about the others: such as .jpeg, .gif, .art.... MS Internet Explorer is generally the default viewer for those common Internet images. Some of the older formats are probably associated with your current photo editor, or not associated if you don't have one installed (.xif, .tiff, .pcx, .tga, pcd,...and on). The default viewer for bitmaps (.bmp) is usually MS Paint. Adobe extensions are usually .psd, .pdd . . . If you haven't made any other big changes and just want to switch everything back in a big hurry, you could uninstall Firefox, restore the Registry, and then re-install Firefox with different file association options. That might be faster than going through the File Associations one by one in Windows Explorer/Tools/FolderOptions. But probably your favorite image viewer will set things aright with a menu option with a little hunting around. . . . Gary |
