Hi Quicksilver,
I have heard 10gig for XP but I put it on a 80gig last night and maybe partition later. (Partition Magic) Carl |

I use 8.5 to 10 for XP home. I seen others recommend 10 - 12 for XP pro.

I use 10 for xp and 5-7 gig for win2k. This is just for os; no other programs installed into the partition.

I would say at least 10gb. It used to be 5 was enough. but now with SP1 and all the updates XP now takes up anywhere from 5-8 minimum, depending on what progs you install on the default, and how often you clear out your cache/temp folders. FYI, to ensure better performance and stability you should always have at least a gig free on your Windows part. 10 should be enough for now, but with SP2 due out in summer, you might even want to think about going with 15 unless you want to resize/reformat later. Personally, I don't dare attempt to resize my Windows part, not even with ParititionMagic. Better to get it right early.

Hm. I used 8, and was considering actually making it a bit smaller since I'm barely using half of it. But I guess after reading these posts I wont.

15 GB OS+Apps, so 10 GB would probably be enough if I just had the OS.

12 GB for XP and Apps. I don't have games. XP will grow if you use the System Restore. I reset the System Restore every once in a while when I'm confident, I don't need it!
