IDX files

Hello, I am currently in the process of cleaning up the hard drive on the family computer that uses windows XP. After doing an analysis and defrag i was made aware that we only had 4% free space which as you might guess this slows the computer to a crawl. In the process of deleting unnecessary files, programs, etc i came across about 1,000 IDX files on my wifes user in her documents files that were used for musicmatch mp3 downloads. I had her download her songs onto discs and delete the songs from the hard drive but is it ok for me to delete these IDX files also? Under properties they show that they open with the musicmatch so i assume they were used to organize the songs that are now deleted. Is it ok to get rid of these? The IDX files are 1KB each which would clear up over 1000 KB for me. Thanks in advance for your help.

If you take a look at this webpage, it will explain what the IDX files are for. http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=idx. Hope this helps.
