Registry cleaner for XP

I am looking for a good registry cleaner (free if possible) for XP Pro. I have read past threads, but they were pretty old. Easy Cleaner was highly recommended, but it is not free any more.
Does anyone still use the old Microsoft Regclean 4.1a ??
Many thanks in advance for your opinions.

My personal favorite is Registry Healer, but it's not free. Best $19.95 I've spent on software.

Easy Cleaner. It may not clean everything. But having used Easy Cleaner for a bunch of years, I don't seem to have any bog down problems associated with dead stuff. It's better to under clean than over clean.

If you are someone the FBI or Homeland security would have interest in, then use your ex-wife's computer!

Thanks everyone for your replies.
Shepherd1000, that link did work, I downloaded Easy cleaner but now I have a problem and I think I read about this happening somewhere before. My HELP & SUPPORT don't work anymore ? Any suggestions ? Should I do a SYSTEM RESTORE ?

It's me again, I found out that an UNDO file was created by default before the 140 files were deleted. so that problem is solved. However I have another question. Easy cleaner found 140 items with the Registry ( I think they were called references or something like that). Am I supposed to read each item and think about whether it is safe to delete the reference or not ???

This is the thread describing the problem of accidentally deleting Help & Support with Easy Cleaner, how to prevent it, and what to do if you've already done it:
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=89377

I personally don't investigate what Easy Cleaner finds in my registry that can be deleted. Since Easy Cleaner creates an undo file, I rely on that in the event that I ever delete something important (so far I haven't).

It's the trial version. It will find all the registry problems, but will only fix 7 at a time, or some number like that. Your need a registration file to convert it to full version.
