Somebody is yanking your chain!! Not true. I have the machine in my sig with 1Gb of ram and another with an Asus P4PE motherboard with 2 sticks of Kingston PC2700 512Mb ea. Both machines running XP Home. Windows 98 has a problem over 512, but it too will work with the right registry tweaks.

I run 1 gig with win 2000 and win xp pro with out problems.

Maybe they're confused by information that suggest that windows XP should have at least 512 mb to run optimally, but I have machines with 256 mb's running it and have not noticed problems.
