Unmountable_Boot_Drive

My newly installed system (P4 3G 800FSB on XP) was working flawlessly untill now. I believe i was infected while surfing the web, as this pop-up box came on and Norton anti-virus tried to catch it and both boxes were going nuts flashing on the screen and it jammed my system, i couldn't shut it down or kill those boxes within task manager, had to resolve by powering down from the power button. After re-boot, i get the blue screen and Unmountable_Boot_Drive message. Tried booting from the CD and went to system recovery, and i can browse my files everywhere except for the C: drive which is inaccessible. At this point i really don't know what to do except for booting from another HD and then go and retrieve all the important work from the other device. I have many sleepless nights of work on this drive so i hope eveything is still intact...

This is very helpful. I have a question though:

I'm trying to use this option, but, the PC won't read the CD's for some reason, and it has no floppy drive (it's a Dell ) any suggestions?

Posting in a nearly 3 year old thread is very confusing. You need to start your own thread stating your specific problem. I'm removing your 2 bump posts and closing this.
