Upgrading computer and XP
This is a confusing problem I have. I've ordered a new hard drive, motherboard, processor, etc., and I want to upgrade to windows xp. I'm going to get the upgrade version of xp. The problem is, I don't have an acutal "windows ME" cd. I have the stupid "recovery cd" that hp gives out as a replacement. I'm doubting that when i choose to install xp on my "upgraded" computer that it will accept my hp cd as a windows ME cd. How am I going to go about doing this?

Welcome to PCMech. Not sure about the upgrade part, but www.newegg.com sells a full version of XP Home for around $90, if that helps any.

Were you able to add that to your order? I think newegg may even get around the 'hardware' requirement by sending you a little cable or something when you order just XP. Good luck with everything.
