I think spending the time to download the updates, even on dial-up would be way better than waiting 2 to 4 weeks for a cd.

They also will send you the MS office updates for 2000 and XP for free. It only took about 2 weeks to get mine for MS office 2000.

My same thoughts, but not everyone has broadband, and downloading mammoth files like the SP1 would be a major pain in the head with dial-up. Ever had a connection dropping after 90% of the data downloaded, and therefore lost?

I just built a system with Win 2K Pro, P4 3.0C Ghz, Asus P4C800-E Dlx, 2xGeil PC3200 512mb, ATI 9800XT, with a US Robotics modem. Why would anyone degrade such a performance beast to dial-up?! The guy already have the parts and he just wanted me assemble the PC and install the OS. I installed all the drivers and other progs (PC-cillin, asus probe), but as sure as hell I won't update MS. I built the system in his place & he didn't have broadband.

Here is what I understand, if the cd upgrades are free, then how about making a cd image file and distribute it on the internet? 2-4weeks, is longer than downloading a 700mb cd image file. Right?

I wonder if the cd is upgradeable so you can add new updates down the road. Because by the time we get this we would have to order a new one.

Just put 'eh' at the end of every sentence.

ie: where do you want to go today eh?

Actually it's just small words like labour vs labor or odor vs odour and such.

Thanks for the link, I just ordered mine. Sure better to download them when needed instead of waiting 2 to 4 weeks, but better to have it now for the future.

Not yet. I ordered mine on 2-22 and the page hasn't been updated yet. It is still stuck on: The status of your order as of 2-22 is on backorder. The e-mail I was sent stated 2 - 4 weeks, and time is running out. They only have about 1 1/2 weeks to go. I will just have to wait and see when it will actually get here.

It helps in trouble shooting because a lot problems are caused by not having enough power.Sometimes cards wont work properly, new built computers dont boot. So its always good to list your power if you're looking for help. Most good help forums ask you to list it in your signature. Check out these two sites and you will see what I mean.

I got my cd a couple days ago and really wasn't that impressed with it. I have a high speed internet connection and would just rather download the updates than use this cd.
