OK, I have been doing a forum search, and asking people about this, and I keep on getting conflicting answers, so if anyone could clarify this for me, I would much appreciate it.
I have recently finished my first build for a friend, and I used a Windows XP Home OEM SP1a on the pc. Now, I am planning to build another computer, and I just want to know if the cd will be able to install onto the computer I will be building. I know that if it installs, It will be terminated after 30 days, but will it install? I have heard that OEM versions only install if the cd recognizes it as a same machine. I have also heard that the cd will install onto the system with out any problems, then of course it will only last for 30 days. I appreciate your help in advance. |

You can install it on as many PCs as you want with the CD. Think about it. The CD is a read-only medium. How would it learn that it has been installed on a particular machine if it is impossible to make changes to the CD?
Since you won't be able to activate it on more than one PC, though, it will cease working after 30 days, as you already know. |
