When changing the board, just install the new board, but DON'T boot your system up from the hard drive. Boot from the XP CD and go into the installation like normal, but you will receive a repair installation option. This will setup the new hardware on the motherboard leaving all your programs intact. You will at most only need to re-install drivers when it's done.

Norton Ghost will not help you as all of your device drivers will be wrong. All you need to do is clear all the devices out of your device manager, boot on the new system, and XP will detect all the new stuff automatically. There is also a way to do this through the registry, I will try to find it.
