I have a question.
I did some work a while back for a friend, installing some RAM, Installing XP, moving some files over etc etc...and everything went fine. I got a call from this person the other day and she is saying that the other night when she turned off her computer and booted it back up, that it asked for a username and pass to log on to Win XP. I found this weird, becuase for one she said she has powered down many times before and never had this happen, and I Had it set up that it wouldnt even ask for a username and pass to log on to XP since she was the only person using the PC. what do you guys think could be the problem?? One thing I had her try was to log on with no username/pass, and it will allow her to log on, but will not show all instaleld programs etc etc... any ideas?? Thanks Alan |

The XP installation prompts you for a password for the administrator? Do you recall what you typed?

If you or your friend has not set an administrator password, you can try logging in as the Administrator, the pwd is usually blank. To do so:
1) Boot to the welcome screen (or log off all currently logged in users) 2) At the welcome screen - press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice, you should see a traditional login screen 3) Username: Administrator Password: (blank) See if you can log in, if you can, you can go to the Control Panel for users accounts and reset the password on her account. |
