Error Installing XP
I finally got Windows XP Pro to start installing. It got to the part where it restarts to open the nice GUI install part of the instalation. The only problem is that instead of opening the install window, I get a bank black screen of death. I tried rebooting my pc, and nothing seams to have worked. Would my CMOS battery be dead? If so how can I tell? Does anyone know how I can fix this problem??? Thanks for your help!!!

Never rule out bad RAM. I have had machines that did Win95 installs fine, but Win98 installs exposed bad RAM. Newer OS's have larger CAB files which extract in RAM and errors can be had.

Ok, I got it back up, without knowing why, and it worked for most of the installation. The installation said I was missing a file, and the screen went plack again. When I boot it up it goes "beep, beep, space, beep". Does anyone know what this means or how I could get my pc back up?

Hmmm....I'm not sure that I know of any BIOS that has beep error codes with a pattern of 2 beeps followed by only one more set of beeps. Phoenix BIOS has 2 beeps-pause-X beeps-pause-X beeps. And that pattern means bad memory. What type of BIOS does your motherboard use?

Oh, and if its bad RAM that is not able to support XP, why can't I go to bios?

if you can't get into bios, then you have another problem of the system not getting past the post, which would be a hardwre problem
