Win XP command prompt

Is DOS prompt the same as command prompt? I'm trying to update my half-life server and I need to do this:
To download the latest version of the dedicated server to your machine:

a) Open a DOS prompt.

b) Change to the directory where the HLDS Update Tool is installed.

c) Run the HLDS Update Tool with "-update":

>HldsUpdateTool.exe -update [ [Y]]

"cstrike", "dmc", "dod", "ricochet", "tfc", or "valve"

is the path where you want the files installed
e.g. . (for the current directory) or c:\hlserver

Steam account username

Steam account password

[Y] (optional) means save your password so you don't have to use it later

e.g.
>HldsUpdateTool.exe -update cstrike . email@here.com comPlexPass Y

or

>HldsUpdateTool.exe -update cstrike c:\hlserver email@here.com comPlexPass Y

d) Steam remembers the options you use, so when you need to update next time you only need to run:

>HldsUpdateTool.exe -update

But I can't change the directory I'm in useing the cd command. Can someone please help me.

Command prompt is the DOS prompt. DOS commands should work there. The cd command is working fine for me. If you want to go up 1 level, type "cd.." Also, you have to make sure that the directory exists before you can go to it.

Yes, comand prompt, although NT based, is basicly the same as the standard 9x DOS comand prompt. Most comands will work, although some will not.
