Print screen in MS-DOS Program
How can I print a MS-DOS screen in Windows 2000 or XP? I have tried with shift + print screen but it doesn´t print anything.

Alt+PrintScreen works just fine for me with a command prompt window in Windows 2K.

I don't believe you can. Best thing to do is use the mouse to highlight everything, hit Enter, then paste it into Notepad or a word processor.

Are you trying to copy the text, or capture a screenshot?
If you do a screenshot, just hitting PrintScreen when the command prompt window is showing will work. It copies a screenshot to the clipboard, and from there you can open Paint and paste the screenshot. If you want to copy the text, then glc's method is what you want. However, it will not include any formating, so tabbed tables will not look right. |

You have to paste the screenshot into *something* - you can't print screen directly. If it's got menus and tables and stuff, paste it into Paint or an image editing program.

if memeroy serves me right:
at the dos prompt type control P and anything typed or displayed on the screen will be sent to the printer untill you type control P a second time also it can be redirected to a file and saved. then use eather the printed page or the text file anyway you want or need |

Hi Easgs,
Saw your inquiry and remembered I ran across this site once before...I fumbled around myself trying to print the msdos screen using the standard info out there on the web, nothing worked. Go to: "http://www.commodon.com/threat/threat-detect.htm" and follow his prompts for creating a dos .txt file of course implementing the dos command your using at the time. The txt file should be found on your C drive after all steps have been initiated. I'll also print them here. Many good tips on internet security here...good luck!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 1. - Reboot your PC. Do NOT establish a dial-up connection. Click Start | Shut Down Click Restart Click OK Step 2. - After you reboot your PC and before doing anything else, open a DOS window. Click Start | Programs | MS-DOS Prompt NOTE: If you don't have a shortcut to the MS-DOS Prompt, don't worry. You can: Click Start | Run Type command Click OK Step 3. - Type "netstat -an >>c:\netstat.txt" (without the quotes, ie) Type: netstat -an >>c:\netstat.txt Press ENTER Step 4. - Close the DOS window. Type: exit Press ENTER Step 5. - Open Explorer Click Start | Programs | Windows Explorer Step 6. - Change to the C drive and double click on the netstat.txt file. It should open with NOTEPAD. Click (C:) Double-click netstat.txt |
