Watchin movies on a network...

I have a problem, I'm on a wireless LAN at home, on a home network, now I have large movies on my computer that I want to share with another user at home, which I managed to do, however, even though I share my directory with othe users, it still takes 40 mins for them to download it onto their pc and watch....

My question is this, can they watch the movie by opening the file in its current location without downloading to their HDD?

If your network bandwidth is wide enough to stream it real time, yes.
