major xp problem
When i boot up XP,( xp pro) at the start the system hangs on the "windows is starting up" screen and will stay on there for about 10 minutes before it finally goes onto the user logon screen, this happened quite a while ago but seems to have got worse and i can't get onto my pc at the moment as it happens every time i boot up!
This started after i was installing some telnet programs to set up a telnet server on my pc and now before the logon screen comes up i alsao get a thing saying "the system could not log you on" then you just click ok and it goes! I think this may be related to the problem! Any ideas? Thanks Chris 64mb Geforce 2 ti, 1600XP, m810LMR, 256mb RAM, 20gb hd |

download a program called boot vis(search for it on some search engine) and let it optimize your boot. see if that helps, if not, post back

Boot it up into safe mode and do a system restore to before the problem started.

what is your computer trying to log you on to? i think it's looking for a server that is no longer there or was setup improperly. that could cause long boots and would give you an unable to login to server message
