no sound but can view movies

hi,
i have just replaced my winME with win XP in my old pc(AMD k62),prblem is i cant no lonegr hear any sounds,even system sound but i can view movies..what's the best thing to do?

Are your drivers up to date, and does the sound card support XP? check out the cardmanufacter's site for driver updates.

check your device manager and see if there are any conflicts with sound card.. also go to start programs entertainment and make sure sound is turned up in mixer
