Hmm...I dunno what to tell ya. I haven't really heard of anything like that happening. Could it maybe be a browser problem? Maybe something to do with scripts/java/activex? *bump*

You may have to reboot. Have you gone to the Windows Update site, gotten the new version, and rebooted?

Check the update history back at windows to see if everything downloaded and installed after you rebooted. If not that is why you have to do it again. If java is disabled udated won't let you download anything untill it is enabled. I know this from experience.
You might want to disable yo firewall and antivirus just as a prcaution and start over again. |

you might have a corrupted installation of the windows update file. Try this:
1) Close down all versions of IE 2) Go to START > RUN > and type this %windir%\Downloaded Program Files 3) Do you see Update Class? If so right click on it and click Remove 4) Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Security tab > Click the default level and set your security to MEDIUM Click Apply 5) Go to the Connections tab > I am assuming you are using DSL & so your network is connected through a LAN so click on LAN settings 6) Remove the checks on all boxes, including your proxy server if you have any. Especially make sure that Automatically detect settings is unchecked. 7) Once removed, reboot your system. 8) Now try going to windows update |

No you right click on Update class and select REMOVE from the popup menu. You have to remove Update class, not the Downloaded Program Folders.

So your security settings or your LAN settings are likely not letting the activex class to download and install. Move to step 4 from my post above. Also do you have any firewall/realtime antivirus software running?

Yes skip steps 1-3; does your antivirus software prevent you from install activex? Err is it McAfee by any chance? Disable realtime scanning before going to windowsupdate; and remember to turn it back on after u are done updating your system - remember to keep all other programs closed.
