98SE limitations?

i asked in the drives section but i think this is somewhat more software.

i have the 40 gig 2mb cache 7200rpm in my sig. i have an 80 gig seagate 8mb cache coming frome newegg. will windows 98se recognize this 80 as 80? i plan on doing cable select so no raid or anything.

if it doesn't recognize it as 80 what can i do? will windows update work?

Win 98 will see a 137 GB drive. If you have any limitations, it will be in the mobo / BIOS, which should be OK assuming it's the mobo listed above.

Yes, the BIOS on that new motherboard will recognize the whole 80GB HDD.

Refer to the fdisk issue in your other thread.

Please don't crosspost, pick a forum and stick with it, if the mods think it's better in a different forum, we will move it.

Is there a limitation on the CPU speed that Windows 98SE will recognize?

I read in a Thread here that it has problems around 2.2 GHz. It ran fine with my 2700+ which is 2.17 GHz. It seems a little strange that an extra 0.03 GHz would make a difference...

Not ALL 98 installations will come across that bug... it's a kinda hit and miss thing affecting some computers and not others.
