If you suspect your registry is damaged, take a look at the article: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q307545
Seems like you are having multiple problems with your new build. Just in case they are hard disk or memory related [that registry error can be a sign of data corruption problems], test both the hard drive and the memory. If your hard disk came with a diagnostic program on a CD, use that - or download the diagnostics from the manufacturer's webiste. To test the memory, you can try something like DocMemory: http://www.simmtester.com Also - if you've set the memory timings too aggressively, slow things down a bit [switch from "Turbo" to either "Normal" or "by SPD"]. If you are overclocking, go back to stock settings for a while & see if the errors clear. Overclocking can lead to data corruption and system instability. So can viruses, of course. If you've run Kazaa on this box, I'd advise uninstalling it, running full antivirus checks, and some antispyware programs to clean things up. Best of luck . . . Gary [p.s. ...if this is the same box with the Windows Update trouble, remember to set that site as a "trusted site" in IE, and on the "excluded" list of your "script-blocker" in your AV.] |
