I've always wondered what does this option do?

Sounds like it will run a new process when you open a Window (obviously
)And that means (if I'm right) that if explorer crashes, your folder window will still be there... (you know, when one folder stops responding, and you Ctrl+Alt+Del, all folders closed? I think it might stop that) |

So what is the downside? There must be one, otherwise why would they give you the option?

The ? Help button states:
"Specifies that each folder is opened in a seperate part of memory. When you open each folder is a seperate part of memory, the stability of Windows can be increased. However, your computer's performance might decrease slightly."
