Memory Dumps
The last couple of weeks I’ve been getting a blue screen of death 3-4 times a day. The error is: DRIVER_IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL . My system then performs a physical memory dump to the hard drive, and then reboots. The Windows Online Crash Analysis Wehpage says the crash was caused by a device driver. It also informed me that based upon my error reporting, an update was available that would address the problem. When I clicked on the update, I was redirected to the Intel site. There I downloaded the update and installed it. That night my system crashed three more times for the same error. I’ve been on the phone with Dell tech support for many hours. They’ve had me try many different things, including inserting the WindowsXP installation disc, performing the repair function, and then reinstalling WindowsXP, all to no avail. Now they’re talking about having me reformat my hard drive and start over fresh. I’d rather not do that if at all possible. I’d rather just address the problem causing the crashes. If anyone reading this has experienced this same problem, or has an idea on how to possibly fix it, I’d really appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.

It could be caused by a lot of things. What are all the system specs, including video and sound cards, if any? Have you added anything peripherals? Have you installed any new drivers? What happened before you started getting the blue screens?

Video:32MB ATI RAGE ULTRA 4X AGP
Sound: Integrated ADI 1885 Audio Intel Pro 100M Integrated PCI NIC Card Norton Antivirus I haven't added anything or installed any new drivers recently. The last thing that was changed was the NEC 4XDVD+R/RW CD-RW combo drive. It was replaced by Dell back on Jan.8th. It was a direct replacement. As for what I was doing before the problem started, I was dong nothing different. I do video burning, transferring 8mm analog tapes to DVD, and some DVD backups with Xcopy Xpress, but I'd been doing those things long before I started getting the blue screens. |

I had similar problem awhile back and it ended up being my video card. An ATI All-in-Wonder 7500. I got an updated driver from ATI site and all is good now.

AlwaysUp, thanks for the info. i've downloaded and installed the latest driver for my video card. I'll post again later to let everyone know whether or not it solves the problem.

Well, apparently the video card driver wasn't the culprit. Several hours after installing the latest driver, I had another blue screen stop error. The system performed another memory dump and re-started. I'm going to get back on the phone with Dell before my 1 year warranty expires (in 14 days) and see if they have anymore ideas. With my past experiences with Dell support, I doubt it'll do any good, though. If anyone reading this thread has any more ideas about what may fix the problem, please let me know. Thank you.
