Windows 2K3 Proxy
I want to set up my Windows 2K3 server as an internet proxy server, however I am not 100% sure on how to do this. Is there defualt proxy software that it on 2K3 (Not ICS) or will I have to install a 3rd party program. Either way can some one please reply with how to set up the "default" program/pass along a link/tutorial. Or can you suggest decent proxy software.

SP8600,
I'm not aware of any proxy software included in Windows 2003 Server. I would suggest Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 but it is not compatible with Windows 2003 Server. The only other options I know of are: *MS ISA Server 2000 (http://www.microsoft.com/isaserver/) *WinGate (http://www.wingate.com/) *WinProxy (http://www.winproxy.net/) Note: I have not used any of these products except MS Proxy Server 2.0. Of the 3 listed above, WinProxy is the least expensive, followed by WinGate and MS ISA Server 2000. Although WinGate doesn't look too expensive for a small to medium-sized business. Anyway, hope that helps... -LW |
