Help
I have a problem with my newly built computer. So here goes, I got the computer running good for a couple of weeks or so. Now it won't boot past the Windows XP logo. I get the proper POSTand everything but when it comes to the windows XP logo, it stops there. I have re-installed the windows xp every which way possible and still no go. I need some ideas or help.
Thanks, -Greg |

Boot to safe mode with network support.. get AdAware and update it and remove whatever spyware it finds. Then go to http://housecall.antivirus.com and do a virus check to rule that out.

I did HAL's suggestion and there are no adware/spyware on the computer. No viruses either. Any other ideas.
Thanks, -Greg |

Did you make any setting changes, or do any software installs before this happened?

I installed a couple of games a week before this happened. Made no changes in settings.
I just did a complete format and instal, still does the same thing. I'm suspecting a faulty part, hard drive maybe? -Greg |

I've never had good luck with Via motherboards with Intel processors. You can get free diags to run on the hard drive and memory, start there. Hard drive diags can be downloaded from Western Digital and a couple good ram testers are Docmemory and Memtest86.
