Question How to partition HD in XP

I have format a new drive, how to partition it. I forgot where the function is. I know its somewhere in the manage disk. Thanks.

Yes it's in disk management, just right click mycomputer then go to manage on the pop down menu, then you should be able to find disk management. right click on the drive or partition that U want and you'll see the options to partition and format..

Right Click on My Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk Management. Then find the HD you want, right click it, and select format.

Or if you do not want to/can't get it to work this way, you can probably download a tool from the manufacturer's site.

Thanks, will do. Format, I just did it. I don't find any option for splitting the HD

You would partition the drive prior to installing the OS,XP would create the partitions format C and install,the other partition(s) you would format while in Windows.

If this is an extra disk that you are adding ie non system disk, partition and format from disk management. A quick way to get to DM is start>run type diskmgmt.msc that will bring up disk management.

If this is a disk that you are installing xp on, then it is done during setup.

Thanks, got it done. But when I assign a new drive lette, ltes say D: to Z:, the D: goes missing when I want to assign it to another deiver. Know how to fix this.

d: is perhaps in use by cdrom device at this time. To actually split the drive you need to go to partitioning and you make seperate partitions on the same drive to in essence split a drive into 2.
