Hello, I have a dumb question. I am a new xp user and I do not see an option to run scan disk. Has microsoft done away with it and If so what all P.M. should one do to your computer. Thanks much

its still there, but I am thinking that its now called system file checker

Hi, rpm, and welcome to the PC Mechanic forums.
![]() Go to My PC. Right click on a HD. Select Properties. Then select Tools. Scandisk is the first option from the three. Defragmenter and Backup are the others.

Or you can use the
chkdsk command at the command prompt. You can also follow it with the drive you want to check, as in: chkdsk f: to check your F drive. TwoRails |
