It has been a couple of months since I made a fresh installation of XP pro SP1. To ensure better protection I had installed AVG Anti-Vir with Zone Alarm firewall.
(1) I read this article over the net, which was about Yahoo! Password sender. After having read that, it became obvious that my computer was 'infected' with that.. a blank window appearing on starting Yahoo Messenger, etc etc. Itreied to remove that according to the instructions inside the above mentioned article but couldnt get rid of it. Please help me getting rid of it!! (2) Moreover, an icon "Con" with no definite picture and extention is lying on desktop of every user.. I tried deleting it but "Can't delete the spec file. Make sure the filename/path is correct.. " was the message ![]() (3) I tried updating the system through windows update, but after downloading, when it starts installing those critical security, etc updates, it slows down everything dramatically (have to wait for 2 seconds after typing a single keystroke ) and takes forever to install those updates. And I have to end the process though task manager. But the system continues to be dead slow ever after. ![]() Any help would be highly appreciated - thanks in advance

I trust you have updated AVG and ran a full scan recently?
Windows Update is slowed down by some viruses around... (MSBlast comes to mind...) try another checker at http://housecall.trencmicro.com as it is possible a virus has infected AVG itself, if it wasn't updated at the time Jim
