Win 98 Setup wants Drive "B:"
Here are my specs:
ASUS A7N8X Mobo Barton 2500+ 80GB Maxtor HD (primary IDE master) nVidia FX5200 GFX 2x 256MB RAM sticks (Dual channel DDR) DVD/CDRW combo (secondary IDE master) Here is the problem: I'm installing Win98 on the machine (so I can use an XP upgrade disk) and it gets to "Veryifying integrety of your system." It stops at 61% (checking disk space) and asks me to insert diskette for Drive B, then press a key (I've tried pressing w/o doing anything). I've gone into the BIOS and disabled all the things about checking floppy disk, or any other disk I don't have... Still asks me that. What can I do?? Oh, and another side question... When I start the comp, it says "Starting Dual Channel DDR 100MhZ"... um, isn't it supposed to be 333MhZ (I have PC3200, and the 2500+ has 333MhZ FSB)... But this question isn't nearly as important as the other (unless they are related )

If you want XP anyway, then you don't need to install Win98 first. Put in the XP CD and install XP. The XP upgrade will just ask you to insert the Win98 CD at some point during the installation just to verify that you have a previous windows version, so that you are allowed to use the upgrade.
You do not need to install Win98 first. But the problem is strange, Win98 shouldn't ask for a floppy at all. RJ
