Hi,
boot from the Windows XP CD. Setup will start automatically and guide you through it. Partitioning and formatting the hard drive are also included in the setup, no preliminary actions need to be taken anymore. Just boot from the CD and follow the instructions. RJ

Well, the procedure itself will be the same ... there's one thing about the partitions that you should know about.
Say, on the hard drive that you have right now in the system. . i assume there is an OS installed, right ? Do you want a dual boot, or replace the existing OS ? RJ |

follow-up
What I presently have is win98se on I hard drive with 2 partitions and I have a second slave drive that has 2 partitions just used for data. I am wanting to replace 2nd drive with new 120GB HD and install win XP Pro on that. Then when I have XP Pro running, and am used to, making my now main HD just a data drive. I know it may seem confusing that I am doing it this way but I think it gives me a bit of security so I don't lose everything.....
Thanks |

That's going to cause you problems. Just pull both drives and install XP on the new drive, then slave one old drive at a time in there and copy off the data you need, then reformat/repartition the old drives and put one back in if you want.
