Question ie6 keeps getting error, restarts

i have ie6 sp1 on one of our shop pc's.
it has just developed this common problem. [where it asks if i want to send a report or not.]
i tried a repair at system imformation under the tool bar but it said the version number was to low to be repaired.
so i went to microsoft.com and downloaded ie6 and let it install.
the problem is still there.
what is the fix to get internet explorer back to normal??
[when i tried to reload windows over itself off of the cd on bootup, it said it needed to format the drive first??never seen that message before???]
thankx,ray.
