How do I make a Win2000 boot disk CD-ROM

All the instructions I've read to make a Win2K boot disk say I need 4 formatted floppies. Since I don't have a floppy dirive is it possible to make a boot CD_ROM. If so, how? Thanks.

The Windows 2000 CD is already bootable.
You can also extract the boot sector with IsoBuster. . if that is what you want.

Really, I did see "bootdisk.exe" on the CD. I'm not familiar with OS installations. I want to do a fresh install of Win2K over an existing Win98 installation. I thought I have to run a 2K fdisk first to partition and reformat the drive first before installation of the new OS? Or would just booting to the CD do all that?

FDISK is a DOS program, and so is FORMAT. But DOS is not existent anymore in Win2K and XP, so fdisk and format are gone.

In Windows 2K and XP, the tasks once done by fdisk and format (partitioning and formatting) are now included in the Windows setup itself. So you just boot from the Windows 2000 CD, Setup will start, and somewhere at the beginning you can set up your partitions and format them. Then setup will continue.

Does anyone have a link outlining the process of installing Win2k. I know from my own experience with WinXP you have to go through several blue screens to complete the install.

The installation of Windows 2000 isn't any different. You do it just the same way as you did with XP.
Just follow the instructions on the screen, they tell you anything you need.

If you are doing an UPGRADE from 98 to 2K, you put the CD in the drive while in Windows and follow the prompts. READ and HEED the upgrade report it prepares before continuing, skipping this can cause major issues. If you are doing a CLEAN INSTALL, just boot with the 2K CD and setup will allow you to repartition and format.

winwillme: You need to read the forum FAQ.
