Error Loading Operating System

What are the steps needed to get rid of "Error loading Operating System?"

I had Win XP on the drive formatted as NTFS and now I want to get rid of everything.

I simply want a completely formatted drivr with a clean MBR.

Go into your bios and set it to boot to the cd-rom, insert your XP cd and reboot. Follow the prompt to boot to cd and follow the setup. During setup you will be able to format the drive and it will write a new MBR.

Thx for the reply.

I tried that already. I even deleted all the partitions (within the windows setup program) and formatted (NTFS) and still no go. I also tried fixboot and fixmbr from the recovery console and I'm still getting "error loading operating system."

I have fixed the problem.

I went to the western digital website and got their Data Lifeguard Diagnostic program. I created a floppy, booted from the floppy and ran an option to write zeros to the hard drive.

Then I popped in the Windows XP cd and the installer ran just fine.

Again, thanks for your replies.
