What is the name of this program? How old is it? Have you tried running in compatibility mode?

If it is an old program, it may be too old for Windows XP.

16 Bit? Do you know if it was made for DOS?

You can change the compatiblity mode by right mouse click-properties and enabling compatiblity mode. Try choosing Windows 95.

You can get free organizers now and such that work w/ XP but it seems like you are trying to sync information so to help you the most we will need the name of the program and the company name. If it is a 16-bit program than this program is from the 286 era. Pretty old if it is.

Can you install the program ok? Can you run it okay now that you have tried compatibility mode?

Well the Organizer is by Sharp YO-520, mom says it is about 3+ years old, the file file was sent to me by Sharp support guys, when I unzip it, it gives me a bunch of files in a folder aand one of them is SETUP and when I click on that I get this error message "Can't run 16-bit Windows program" and is say the path I:\windows\desktop\YO520pc\setup.exe is invalid.

Is windows XP installed on your I: drive? The program should say C:, not I: . Do you have a McAfee virus scanner running?

If you could, also, plz right click on the setup file, goto properties and tell me if there is a "version" tab?

Yes for whatever reason the hardrive is "I" and the version Tab does exist and in it the Company=install shield corp, file version=5.10.146.0, Language=english, product name=installshield, product version=5.10.146.0.
Thanks for your help so far

Well it is a 32-bit program, do you have McAfee installed? If you do, try turning it off while you run the setup program. Make sure your Java is up to date... and try this website.

No ZoneAlarm shouldn't be a problem, but make sure you check out the website I posted after I edited my post.

ok correct me if I am wrong but what I understood from that site was, I should set the value to "1" rather than the "0" that was on my machine. which I did and rebooted and tried again after unzipping the file that was sent to me, but the same error message???I just double checked the change I made is still on "1"

"This problem may be solved by moving the setup file to a location which does not use long names in its path components (e.g. the root of drive C) and running it from there."

Have you tried just simply moving the file to the root (I: in your case)? Have you fully updated from Windows Update? Are you running SP1?
