blue bits forever
hi all,
i'm working (?) on a comp 800 Mhz 256 Mb Ram that runs XP. At startup the windows logo screen with the blue buttons keep running forever; no startup in safe mode Has somebody a clue to what can be done before a reformat? |

I assume you tried the "Last Known Good Config"
There is the option of repair install you might try before you jump to formating.

I have more info now; the machine boots ok, but it took the first time 1/2 an hour, so I ran adaware and spybot. adaware came back clean, spybot gave 20 entries. after removal, the system boots now in 12 minutes, which is still far too long. The cache settings in the BIOS are enabled, so now I'm wondering what the next step can be? any ideas?
thx noby |

Run diagnostics on your hard drive, you can download them free from the hard drive manufacturer.
