Thumbs down Computer has hiccups???

Hello Everybody,

I am having a very annoying problem right now. I have Windows 2000 and the install seems to be very stable, except for one problem. Certain games, and most media will experience "Hiccups" while using them. When I am playing video the computer will pause for a minute, and the video will stop, after that it goes into fast forward for about 1 second.

The media that I am playing is saved to my computer and all of my drivers are current. The only thing that I can think is a possible problem is that I restored the current configuration from backup. I had to reinstall most of the programs on the system to restore the associations, but that was the extent of it. This problem is something new, and I can't place the peice of hardware or software that could be causing the problem. Since the restore, I have reinstalled almost all the software, including the drivers. I am at a loss as to why this is happening.

If any has any ideas, or has experieiced this problem before please tell me any possible fixes.

I am running a 1.4ghz Duron, with a Nvidia GeForce FX 5700, I have 256mbs of ram, I know it is not the best, but it should be more then sufficent to run video.
