W2K always installing after convert to NTFS

On my 2nd PC I have W2K. I recently switched the format to NTFS from FAT32 (without re-installing).

Now everything it does windows installer always comes up.

Such as repetitive stuff. Internet explorer, windows explorer, everysingle time I click on a program.

This has been steady for 10 days now. Restarts do not do anything.

Windows Installer? Does it try to re-install the programs? If so, maybe the program links are damaged.
How did you do the conversion? Recovery console?

It was weird how I solved this one.

In FAT32 I had run all the updates. However when I converted to NTFS it needed more critical updates.

After I ran more updates the error (or 10 seconds of the windows installation assistant prompt) went away.

Again this was my 2nd PC this happened on. It's all good now thanks.
