Out Look Express slow

Ever since I defraged out look express is slow to come up , once it comes up, it works ok. When I connect to the internet it starts up great. Out look express did before defraging. Any ideas?

IBM 30 gig hd
cable internet
128 mb ram

After reading the articles , wouldn't it be more simple to uninstall outlook express and reinstall? Shouldn't that fix the problem also?

Quite often, a slow OE can be due to too many emails being stored, most often in the deleted box. I've "fixed" OE many times for others simple by deleting the Deleted Items folder, which had thousands and thousands of emails..... The same is try for other folders with a lot of emails...

I've found that when dissabling Windows Messenger, you can have slow OE problems. You didn't do anything to that did you? Just a thought.

Yes I did disable messenger. I will go back and enable it and then try it again. Thanks

Disabling Messenger is what is causing your slowdown. If you do not want to use messenger then you have to remove it.

OK thanks I went to the site on how to remove , will do it at a later time. I did go back and enabled messenger that did speed it up .
